Ladies Bay is a secluded sandy cove about 150 m long, nestled beneath cream‑coloured volcanic cliffs lined with pōhutukawa trees. It’s long been Auckland’s best‑known nudist beach, yet open to all who enjoy a bare‑all beach experience in a calm, relaxed environment.
The beach offers gentle swimming conditions and a rocky platform ideal for fishing. Visitors also enjoy stunning photographic vistas across the Waitematā Harbour to Rangitoto Island and downtown Auckland, as seen from both the shore and nearby Achilles Point lookout.
Historically, the area has witnessed occasional incidents of public sex or lewd behaviour—clear violations that local authorities monitor intermittently—so it's advisable to stay aware of your surroundings and report anything inappropriate .
A popular spot for evening visits, sunset at Ladies Bay is often described as vibrant and romantic, further enhanced by the backdrop of Rangitoto and the glowing harbour.
